The firm Schäfer und Koradi was established in July 1851. Schäfer und Koradi was located at Fourth and Wood St. from 1852 until 1879, when the firm moved to 314 York Ave. Ernest Karl Schäfer died in 1878. Rudolf Koradi ran the business until his death in 1908, when Walter R. Schäfer took it over. See Robert E. Wood-engraved illustrations on covers marked "Gilbert" (i.e., George Gilbert?). Includes portrait of Martin Luther, upper cover. Last page blank; pasted to lower cover. "All of the Schäfer und Koradi editions, both Lutheran and Reformed, are undated. Copies with covers of different colors are frequently met with.
