Respined, cocked, edgewear wtih bumped corners, 1872 and 1874 gift notes on half-title and title pages, otherwise light wear. Solid hardcover.; Elusive first book of poetry, published while he was still at Oxford, by prolific song-writer, children's author and barrister F E Weatherly, best known for his 3,000 plus songs, including Danny Boy and the WW1 anthem Roses of Picardy. Respined in blue cloth with gilt spine title. Published before Weatherly dropped the "k" from his first name. Gift inscription on half-title reads "Nina 1874, Effie [lined out] from Cecil 1872", and on the title page in a different hand "Nina from Cecil, Lyme 1874"; Cecil apparently changing his mind on who gets the book.
