This copy has a fascinating association. The oldest owner's signature is "Hilda Macdonald" about whom I can find no information. The second signature is that of Howard E Kohn II, best known as the producer of the noir film "Hidden Fear". The final ownership marking is the stamp "Samuel Bronston Productions Ltd." Samuel Bronston produced the 1963 epic "55 Days at Peking" about the Boxer Rebellion siege of the foreign legations at Beijing. This "China Edition" of Indiscreet Letters may have been a reference work used in the movie's writing and filming. This first China edition of a first-person account providing insight into a key 20th-century political moment in China has a fascinating association by being used by the production company of the American movie on that subject. ; vii, 447 pages.
